Fall fashions usually include a line-up of cable knit sweaters, a rich color palette and boots… glorious boots. Though some of these trends are back again, there are some unique fashions for these cooler fall months. These trends are a little unexpected for this time of year. So, let their uniqueness cradle yours by embracing the beauty of fall.
We usually see lace-up anything during the summer. It’s a fun way to expose a little skin when the weather is warmer or create an illusion of something larger. But this fall, lace-up tops are everywhere: bulky sweaters, slim silky shirts, cozy sweatshirts. Pair with your favorite jeans or skirt and boots. Wear a tank top under if you leave the tie loose or create a playful look by tucking a scarf into the top.
Ruffles have been a top trend for several summers in a row, but the runway is marked with ruffles for this fall. The trick is in the simplicity of the ruffle. A lot of ruffles strategically placed or an accent trim is better than ruffles everywhere. Subtle is key, especially when draped on a sleeve or a across the body. Keep the remainder of our outfit simple as well.
Floral prints and patterns are always a hit in the summer as they give homage to the Lord’s natural beauty. But this trend is central to fall’s fashions. From patterned dresses and tops to appliquéd shirts and sweaters. Floral details are a beautiful accent for this transitioning season. Though previous seasons allowed you to mix and match prints, stick to one pattern this season and accentuate the rest of your wardrobe around that one piece.
Short Shorts (and Skirts)
Every summer, we pull out the short shorts and skirts to allow our beautiful legs a little breathing room. But, don’t pack them away quite yet. Wear them on into this fall with thick striped, patterned or colorful tights (or knee-high socks with the skirts). Be sure to accompany your look with ballet flats, slender sneakers or cute ankle-high booties (avoid a tall boot). Top off your look with any style shirt and various accessories because this trend is all about style and diversity.
Bright and shiny material usually rears its head around the holidays, but this year, you can don your favorite metallic shirt, pant, shoe or jacket from now until New Years! The exciting part of this trend is its playfulness and diversity. Wear one item with confidence or be bold and step out in an entire outfit of metallic material. Accent your metallic with sharp black or with cool blues, turquoises and purples. Be sure to add a little bling to top it all off.
