April Showers Make May Flowers
Make beautiful and fresh Summer flowers to decorate all summer long with these ten easy steps.
- Magazine or any kind of foldable paper (newspapers work well too)
- Hot glue gun
- Wire or small dowel (an unfolded paperclip works perfectly) for a stem
- Bead, gem or button (optional)
Step 1: Use the ruler and pencil to measure your magazine or paper into six 3×3 inch squares and cut them out
Step 2: Fold square in half diagonally
Step 3: With the top point of the triangle facing away from you, fold the left and right corners up to the middle corner. You should now have a square.
Step 4: Fold the same pieces halfway back.
Step 5: Open these pieces and press them flat with the crease down the middle of the open tabs.
Step 6: Fold the tops of the two sidepieces down towards you so that they line up with the edge.
Step 7: Fold the sidepieces in half along the crease.
Step 8: Bring both sidepieces towards each other so creating a cone shape. Glue these two pieces together. Now you have a completed flower petal.
Step 9: Repeat Steps 2-8 with all six of your squares.
Step 10: Glue each petal to each other and to your stem (if you do not want a stem then simply glue the petals to each other). Now your flower is complete!
Step 11 (optional): Add a bead, button, gem or other embellishment to the center of your flower for a little extra decorative touch! This extra adornment works well to cover any imperfection that your flower may have, especially if you aren’t especially precise with the glue gun!
Use these beautiful flowers to decorate your bedroom, study space, kitchen or any place you need a little touch of Summer. Make them into beautiful bouquets by placing them in decorative planters, pin them into a Styrofoam ball to create a beautiful hanging decoration or tape them to the top of a gift for an elaborately decorated present.
