You know the routine. The warm weather leaves and soon half of your wardrobe does as well. It’s back-to-school, which means it’s time to pull out boots, scarves and jackets, right? Instead of wearing and buying the same “fall” outfits, switch it up this season and try something new.
Velvet was featured on the runways of Valentino, Givenchy, Dolce and Gabanna, VETEMENTS; the list could practically go on forever. It was used in accessories, as dresses, jackets, shirts and again, the list should play basketball because it’s so long and tall. Here’s a few ways to rock the trend this fall.
You don’t have to be dressed head to toe in velvet to follow the trend. You can keep rocking your favorite jeans and jacket, but substitute a plain shirt for a velvet tank.
A velvet dress is perfect for a night out with friends or, for a special occasion. To make this look more casual (and warm!), add underneath a white t-shirt. Celebrities like Kendall and Kylie Jenner have both layered a thin strapped dress with a t-shirt for a relaxed feel.
Want to be able to go to an all you can eat buffet and still look good? Pair an oversized sweater with a velvet mini for the perfect “I’m trying not to try” outfit.
Another trend this fall? Puffy, oversized coats. Pair it with velvet and you’ll look as though you work for Ralph Lauren.
For the bold and the fearless, here are two words – velvet jacket. If wearing a major statement piece (and what says statement piece more than a long velvet jacket?), tone down the rest of your outfit to create balance. Keep the attention where you want it – on the jacket.
