The ending of the school year wasn’t anything like you expected. Summer didn’t have the usual excitement and thrill. Now that you’re getting ready to head back-to-school, you’re afraid to anticipate anything just to be disappointed again. What will the new school year look like? Will you be able to resume a normal classroom life, or will you be sheltering at home again come flu season? Will you be able to keep up with virtual learning long-term? The questions and uncertainty pile up high.
There are so many words swirling around in your vocabulary these days: disappointment, uncertainty, fear, concern, question, unknown. But, the opposition to all these suffocating words is hope. Verse after verse, the scriptures state that hope overcomes discouragement, disappointment, uncertainty, concern, the unknown, questioning and fear.
There’s so much unknown in the world right now, so you have the right to feel uncertain. But through Christ, you don’t need to dwell in those feelings. You can be certain that He will overcome. He will provide a way. He will guide you. He will give you strength and courage. He will set you free.
God will give you the hope you need to walk through these uncertain and trying times. Having faith in Him will bring you clarity and peace of mind. You can trust in Him, more than you can trust in anything. When the future seems too bleak. When you simply can’t handle another online class or another dark, dismal headline or social media post. When you have to find freedom from your house or your family. Place your faith on the solidarity of God. Have faith in Him, even when you don’t have faith in yourself or your circumstances.
God has a plan for you and will give you a future (Jeremiah 29:11). He will not let you down. He will not give up on you right now. He will not let you fail. He will not forget about you. Instead, He will hold your hand. He will carry you. He will encourage and support you. He will provide you with the resources you need to overcome all obstacles. He will help you thrive.
As you struggle through these challenges and fears, seek God. Pray. Ask Him to intervene. Look to the future: when you can be back at school, surrounded by friends, learning directly from a teacher, playing your beloved sport, finding freedom from your bedroom. This day will come.
Those who hope in the Lord will not be put to shame, they will not be discouraged or disappointed. There is so much uncertainty in life. God sees it all and He sees how you fit into the bigger picture. Trust in Him and He will lead you to the other side. It may be hard, you’ll learn a lot, but you’ll have peace and contentment while walking through these frustrating times. Hoping in the Lord is difficult, but you’ll gain so much from making the choice and the effort. When you choose to trust in God, rather than your own perspective, you’re honoring and glorifying Him. No matter what life throws your way, the one thing you can be certain of, is that God deserves your praise.
