In a time when stress and anxiety consume the daily lives of so many young people, LO Worship offers a balm for the soul, with not a collection of worship songs, but a barrier against the enemy. LO Worship is a group of musicians formed through Sadie Robertson-Huff’s Live Original ministry. Years ago, Sadie felt like God was expanding her vision of the Live Original ministry. With the end goal in mind, Sadie began using her own effort to make things happen. The worship team and ministry came together naturally as she let the idea breath and trusted in the Lord. As a result, God pulled together close friends and family to form the conference team. LO Worship is made of couples, siblings, cousins and friends, making it a uniquely beautiful team of individuals who walk closely together through life.
Live Original Comes to Worship
LO Worship gathered together to write songs for an album, and they came up with this powerful concept of sharing testimonies at a conference – similar to what you would do around a campfire at summer camp. Some beautiful songs came out of that collaboration, but it wasn’t time to release those songs. Once again, as they rested and relied on the Lord, more songs blossomed. “The whole album just took time,” says bandmate Lydia Walker. Her husband, Reeves (also in the band) claims that they would create songs and put them on the shelf. They didn’t rush the process, and as a result, their debut full length live album “Songs of the Anxious Heart” was birthed. All this waiting taught the band that when you’re unsure where you’re going, rely on the Lord. He is your first step.
Everyone in the band shares their vulnerability with anxiety. The entire album is a raw testimony of God entering into anxiety, fear and grief. The album itself ministered to the band as they walked through some very dark and uncertain times. Lydia more fully explains that at one time anxiety ruled her own life, “but Jesus took the place of that anxiety.” With honesty, Lydia expresses that anxiety hasn’t completely left her, but she has learned to invite the Lord in when she’s feeling anxious.
Songs for the Anxious Heart
When asked, the band admits that music pulls them out of their anxiety, as does the Word of God. Sadie exuberantly quotes powerful scripture about God’s Word being our weapon. Her brother Will openly discusses the creation of the song Pages, and how the Word of God is our treasure. It’s a heavy song about how we’ve taken scripture for granted, but when we hold onto it, there’s power to overcome the deepest and darkest moments.
“Songs for the Anxious Heart” isn’t just a title song, it’s a concept that’s woven throughout the entire album. The band addresses anxiety head-on, offering listeners space to find healing, peace and purpose. Sadie Robertson-Huff explains, “All these songs, in their own beautiful way, minister to people exactly where they’re at.” She continues by explaining that when we speak our testimony, it’s our past that God has redeemed. Sadie’s powerful voice of encouragement is intertwined throughout the album, providing scripture filled testimony. Her continuous hope and desire is that people would know the love of God and how He truly sees us. We are not anxious messes, we truly are redeemed. She says, “when you sing the Word over your life, it becomes truth.”
Reeves speaks about writing Song of Deliverance. He asked the question, “What do you have in those darkest moments?” The song proclaims that during those times of anxiety, you can look back and see when Jesus was there in your life before and trust that He is with you now. Ultimately, the album isn’t about each band member’s personal struggle with anxiety, it’s an album about God’s faithfulness and how He is present through all of life’s struggles, insecurity and trial.
