Luxurious Long Legs

Beauty through Style & Fashion

The season of showing off those luxuriously long legs is here. It’s tempting to pull on the shortest of shorts or the trimmest of skirts to show off those beauties in the warm summer heat, but when you love your legs and want to draw attention to them, showing more skin isn’t necessarily the best option. If you know that God created you with lovely legs and you enjoy showing them off, we have some great tips on how to strut your stuff:

Let’s Talk Skirt Length

Though it’s appealing to chose a short, skin-revealing skirt, you’d actually provide more attention to your legs by opting for a skirt that ends two to five inches above your knees. Showing a little knee with a playful fabric and fun sandals draws the eye to a tone and beautiful leg rather than wondering what else the eye might be able to see as the skirt flips from side to side.

How to Wear Short Skirts

Layer shorter skirts over shorts. If your skirt does flips the wrong way, people will focus on the beauty of your body rather than questioning your taste level.

Joelle Floral Skirt, $59.95, available at Altar’d State; Full Court Sport Logo Bike Short, $70.00, available at Nordstrom.

Wearing Shorts

If you do wear shorter shorts, be sure to cover up top. A skin-tight, barely-there tank worn with short shorts doesn’t lure the kind of attention you’re wanting to your legs. Instead, it creates a rather unattractive look that appears unbalanced. Settle on a looser blouse with ease and flow to bring awareness to your long limbs.

ASOS Design Gingham Tiered Seersucker Blouse, $33.00, available at Nordstrom; Frame Le Grand Garcon Short Biodegradable, $198.00, available at Nordstrom

Skirt Types to Wear

Skirts that flow exhibit legs more than tight skirts. Tight skirts accentuate other areas of the body, so stick with full skirts with a lot of movement due to light and airy fabrics. The movement creates an illusion of greater activity, capturing attention and providing a point of interest.

Erin Spotted Skirt, $59.95, available at Altar’d State; Anna Skirt, $59.95, available at Altar’d State.

Leggings for Long Legs

Wear leggings or opaque tights modestly by pairing them only with dresses or tunic shirts. Leggings and tights aren’t meant to be worn as pants, so when worn under an item that fully covers your hips and butt, you’ll be drawing attention to the length of fabric that your legs have covering them rather then other aspects of your body.

2XU Motion Print Hi-Rise Compression Leggings in Forever Spacedye, $99.00, available at Nordstrom; ASOS Design Polka Dot Minidress, available at Nordstrom.

Dress Lesson

Pairing heels with long pants or a maxi dress can make your legs look longer without even showing skin. By adding height to already long legs, you’re creating an illusion of greater extension.

ASOS Shirred Maxi Sundress in Black, $45.00, available at Nordstrom; Jemma Wedges, $69.95, available at Altar’d State.

Opt for High Waist Jeans and Pants

Jeans or pants with higher waistlines elongate the line of your leg providing the impression that your legs begin at your waist rather than at your hips. This illusion adds a solid six inches to your luxurious legs.

AG Alexxis Straight, $215.00, available at Nordstrom; Good American Good Legs Flare Twisted Slit, $155.00, available at Nordstrom.

Don Platforms with Trousers

Wide-leg jeans or trousers worn with platform heels add height to the bottom portion of your body making you appear tall and lean. Onlookers will be convinced that your legs are a mile long and that you’re standing on a solid foundation due to the width of the pant leg.

Wessi Leather Heels by Dolce Vita, $150.00, available at Altar’d State; Good American Good 90s Crossover Straight Leg Jean, $159.00, available at Nordstrom.

All About Shoes

Avoid boots or booties with skirts because they cut your legs off at the ankle or calf. Select nude colored shoes to make your legs appear never ending instead.

Birkenstock Staud Arizona Big Buckle Slide Sandal, $190.00, available at Nordstrom; Patsi Heel, $59.95, available at Altar’d State.

Jumpsuits and Jewelry

Consider jumpsuits worn with delicate jewelry. A properly fitting jumpsuit will add length to your body, then the addition of muted jewelry will continue to pull attention upward, stretching your full look out from head to toe.

Butterfly Pendant Necklace, $29.95, available at Altar’d State; Zella Gwen Sleeveless Knit Romper, $79.00, available at Nordstrom.
