Not only are they totally refreshing, smoothies are an incredible source of vital nutrients like protein, calcium and vitamin C, which we all need. Whether you’re mixing one up for breakfast or after hitting the pool, the possibilities are endless. Since tons of fruit is ripe and in season, summer is the perfect time to experiment with various combinations to find your personal favorite.
Easy Breezy Strawberry-Banana Smoothie
½ cup milk
½ cup vanilla or strawberry yogurt (substitute ice cream for a richer treat!)
1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, cut into quarters with stems removed
1 peeled banana (also can be frozen)
Crushed ice (add to create your desired consistency)
Combine all ingredients in a blender. Cover and blend until smooth, about 45 seconds to a minute. Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately!
Mouthwatering Mango Smoothie
¾ cup orange juice (add a full cup if you like thinner smoothies)
½ cup frozen mango chunks
¼ cup frozen pineapple chunks
1 peeled fresh or frozen banana
Combine all ingredients in a blender or smoothie maker. Blend until smooth, which takes about 45 seconds to a minute. For best results, enjoy immediately!
Bounty of Berries Smoothie
½ cup orange juice (add more if you like your smoothies thin, add less if you like thick smoothies)
½ cup vanilla or strawberry ice cream or yogurt
1 cup frozen berries such as strawberries, blueberries or raspberries
1 peeled banana if you like a more bountiful flavor
Combine all ingredients in a blender. Cover and blend until smooth. Blending takes about 45 seconds to a minute. Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately!
