Dress appropriately for school during the warm weather months
Every August shopping for your back-to-school wardrobe can become difficult due to strict school dress codes. If your school doesn’t have a uniform, then odds are you have to abide by a dress code that limits inappropriate clothing. This can become increasingly difficult during the summer when all you want to wear is shorts and a tank top. Modern trends can also make it hard to find cute clothes that are appropriate for school, however there are still plenty of ways to stay trendy and cool in the hot weather.
Light Weight Sweaters and Sweater Vests
Loose, flowing crocheted sweaters and sweater vests are on point this season. Since the sweaters cover the arms, they can appear more modest, plus there are tons of layering options. If you’re wearing a longer sweater or vest, make sure it’s tucked into the front of your shorts so your shorts aren’t entirely covered. The flowing fit won’t leave you hot and sweaty either. Additionally, sweaters transition beautifully into fall and winter paired with a great pain of jeans and your favorite pair of boots. If you want to dress up your sweater, wear a skirt and cute pair of wedges for a great night out.
Ruffled Skirts and Skorts
Ruffled skirts and skorts tend to be longer than mini or pleated skirts and denim shorts. The style has enough personality to be paired with a simple short sleeve solid color tee or a playful graphic tee. The loose, airy fit is great for school and comfortable on the hottest of days. Ruffled skirts and skirts can even be worn into the early days of fall if paired with a light sweater, tights and neutral pair of flats, sneakers or booties.
Midi Skirts
A favorite graphic tee looks adorable with a midi skirt. Wear a solid color or a beautiful pattern that compliments your personality. Find a fit that flatters your body, such as a flowing A-line for girls who are super tall or a slim pencil skirt for girls who have a few curves. Midi skirts also transition beautifully into fall and winter when layered with cozy sweaters or button-ups.
Sleeveless Tops
Sleeveless tops are great for school and adorable when paired with a pair of shorts of appropriate length or white jeans. Each blouse is unique and still provides coverage on your shoulders so you’ll be able to wear them to school. When paired with a light jacket or cardigan, boots and a pair of jeans, you can wear these tops into the fall.
Wide Leg Pants
Trousers with wide or flare pant legs have become a staple wardrobe item. White denim or a light wash are perfect pieces to wear back-to-school to help transition from summer. The loose fit means they won’t cling to your body with the warm weather, but be sure to find a pair that fully covers your back side. The cut of these pants are totally appropriate and look adorable with just about any top. Depending on the top and shoes you wear with this pant style, you can appear to have gloriously long legs.
Layer Crop Tops
Just because you’re heading back to school, doesn’t mean you need to put away your favorite summer crop tops. Short tops aren’t the most appropriate, but the styles this season are super cute. Naturally, you can wear your crop top over a standard length crop top or a body suit. Or, crop tops look adorable with high waist bottoms. But, as you head back to school, consider layering your crop top over a sleek button up or blazer. You can salvage a crop top by wearing a cardigan or jacket with the bottom portion buttoned to cover your midriff.
Now you can stay within the guidelines of the dress code without your style being cramped. You’re set for the beginning of the school year even if you would rather still be lounging by the pool.
