Moments of weakness are inevitable. Whether physical, emotional or spiritual, weakness is simply part of being human. The question, then, is not whether we’ll experience these moments, but rather what we’ll do in times of weakness.
From the beginning of time, Satan has made things that are potentially dangerous or unnecessary look appealing. In Genesis 3: 6, Eve was drawn to the apple and Satan tempted her to do the unthinkable. The Bible states that Eve saw that the apple “was pleasing to the eye and desirable for gaining wisdom.” (NIV) This means it was attractive and she wanted what it offered.
In church, I hear about finding rest through quiet time, prayer, reading the Bible and worship. But I rarely hear anything about why I sleep so much.
We don’t spend a lot of time looking at King Herod in the Bible story of Jesus’ birth. Instead, we focus on Mary, Joseph, the Shepherds, Angels and Wise Men. But, King Herod is probably the character that we can relate to the most.
It wasn’t surprising when a Canaanite woman came to Jesus, crying loudly for Him to heal her demon-possessed daughter. Considering Jesus cast out demons all the time, it would be easy to conclude that He’d quickly cast out this demon, too, but He didn’t. Why?
Most popular Biblical stories has an element of the main character needing to have patience. Noah, Moses, King David, the Disciples; the list goes on and on.
The Samson movie is based on the biblical story that is commonly referred to as Samson and Delilah. Now, Delilah had a significant role in Samson’s life, but there is so much more to his character which is demonstrated through this epic film.
