One of the protests against the existence of God is the appalling evil on this planet. The Bible teaches that evil exists on this planet because of a curse. This curse fell on the world by the fall of Adam and Eve into sin. Satan entered our atmosphere, usurped Adam’s authority and became, in the words of Jesus Christ, the “prince of this world.”
The consistency of God is seen in the sunrise, His protection through the strength and shade of a tree, His provision through the rain, His resurrection through the changing of the seasons, His vastness through the mountains and ocean, His intimacy through the song of a bird.
On the cross, Christ proposed to take all your sins, all your imperfections, all your mistakes and mess-ups upon himself so you no longer have to bear that misery.
According to Philip Yancey, in his book Rumors of Another World, there are two ways of looking at the world, “One takes the world apart, while the other seeks to connect and put it together.” He says, “We live in an age that excels at the first and falters at the second.” The world has enough people pulling things apart, we don’t need to join the ranks.
