The end of the second stanza of Silent Night notes, “Jesus, Lord at thy birth. Jesus, Lord at thy birth.” Jesus was Lord from the very first day of His life. We may think of this regularly, but we hardly contemplate how that impacts us on a human level. Jesus’ purpose was to be our Lord. He had that purpose placed upon Him from the very moment He entered this world.
“And there were shepherds living out in the field nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night,” reads Linus in A Charlie Brown Christmas. Let’s take a closer look at the story and learn some lessons to implement into our own lives this Christmas.
