This is your one and only ambition, not just one of your many ambitions. Society encourages you to have a laundry list of seemingly impossible dreams, goals and ambitions. But, according to the scripture in 1 Thessalonians, you ought to have one ambition. Now it’s easy to assume that this ambition spoken of is to follow God with all your heart, but actually, this ambition guides you into how you should follow God.
Many paths will fall before you. As you grow up, you’ll learn things about yourself that will aid you in figuring out what you want to do with your life.
Pretty much everything you do has an impact on someone or something. That means you are an influence. You can choose to be a good influence or a bad influence, but more importantly, you can approach life as being a Godly or ungodly influence.
Knowing who you are honors who God created you to be. Anytime you try to change yourself to fit into a group at school, be accepted by a boy or mold yourself into societies definitions of beauty, you are in a sense mocking God. Through your actions and motives, you’re informing Him that the way He created you isn’t good enough.
A degree, marriage, children, a career, or whatever else may be on your list doesn’t define your purpose or give you meaning. There’s no need to wait for all that to happen to find purpose in your life. Why wait to be the person you want to be? Be that person now!
