Finally, the moment you’ve been waiting for since school started last August…summer! Now that the finals frenzy is over, you deserve a break. However, after a couple of weeks, make sure your slow-down doesn’t become utter laziness.
Both the Old and New Testament are filled with stories about being a servant. God designed us to serve, so when we act in this capacity, we’ll reap His benefits.
Jesus knew people would be uncomfortable serving and being served. In fact, He experienced this lack of comfort himself when washing His disciples feet as depicted in John 13: 1-15.
Volunteering is all about donating time and effort for a cause you personally believe in, and through this process, changing the lives of those around you. Deeds are not measured in size, but rather the impact you make on your community, and in the time in takes to watch a movie, you can significantly make a difference.
I started doing volunteer work when I was in high school—albeit reluctantly at first. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without it, so I urge you to step outside your comfort zone and experience the greatness of volunteering.
