Radiate This Summer

You have a nice summer glow from your poolside tan. This hue makes you feel a little more confident and joyful. But, you’re not radiant because your skin is sun-kissed. You’re beautiful naturally because you reflect the character of the Lord.

In Revelation, the last book of the Bible, we read about the physical attributes of Jesus. “The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.”(Revelation 1:14-16) Jesus’ physical appearance radiates.

The Old Testament book of Psalms reads, “Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.” (Psalm 34:5) Since you are a follower of Christ, and you look to Him to guide your life, you radiate. You reflect His splendor and His majesty.

You Are Beautiful Naturally

Not only has God made you Spiritually beautiful, He has made you physically radiant. You are beautiful naturally because you are a reflection of His radiance. He wants His followers to stand out from the rest of the world, so He’s made you a glimmering light to the world. Your physical appearance is luminous. So don’t cover it up with unflattering clothing and too much makeup. Instead, enhance your beauty and shine bright.

The world strives for a natural glow that followers simply exude because we are beautiful naturally. The American culture currently calls this youthfulness. But, all the stress, effort, chemicals, products, surgeries and strains placed on the body to pursue this look just hinders the body – leaving it lackluster and dull. As a Christian, don’t fall into this trap. If you want to radiate, spend a little effort enhancing your natural beauty and then focus the rest of your time on being with God. The more you look upon His face, the more you will be a light to this world. 1 Peter 3: 3-4 says, “Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear—but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.”

God’s Temple is Beautiful Naturally

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to live within us, making our physical bodies His temple. Not only do we reflect His glory, it now lives within us. This means it is incredibly important to care for our bodies and treat them as temples, because that is God’ intention. He would never place His Spirit inside something that doesn’t exude His magnificence and look beautiful naturally. God would not set Himself in something dull or gloomy.

God created the entire world, which is magnificently beautiful. But YOU were created in His image. This makes you outstandingly beautiful. So, if He physically radiates, then so must you. You are a reflection of God’s brilliance. Present yourself to the world as the beauty you truly are. Believe in yourself and trust in your exquisiteness.
